A free market offering choice, competition, and price transparency does drive innovation and excellence by increasing quality and reducing price. Misdiagnosis can happen in private or public health care. Doctors who place profits ahead of providing high quality medical services to their patients can be found practicing in private and public health care systems (. fraudulent Medicare claims). In a free market these doctors would soon find themselves out of business, but here in Saskatchewan doctors are paid by Medicare regardless of the quality of care provided.
